Error 1309 EQ7

Error 1309 is caused by a restriction in Windows 8 or an unsuccessful install in Windows 7.



When running Windows 8, error 1309 happens because of a restriction in Windows that only allows certain types of updates to be installed when the computer is restarted.
Many times the error is solved by a proper restart. Please follow these steps.

Windows 8

Restart your Computer

  1. Press Windows Key+I on your keyboard to bring up the Settings Panel.
  2. Click the Power button.
  3. Select the option that says "Restart" or "Update and Restart".

If the restart steps above did not resolve the issue, then you'll need to uninstall and reinstall. Please follow these steps.

Uninstall/Reinstall EQ7

  1. Press Windows Key+D on your keyboard to show the Desktop.
  2. Press Windows Key+I on your keyboard to bring up the Settings Panel.
  3. Click the Control Panel link.
  4. Select "Category" from the "View By" options at the top right.
  5. Under the "Programs" heading, click the "Uninstall a Program" link.
  6. Select EQ7 from the list of programs.
  7. Click the Uninstall link at the top of the window.
  8. Follow the on screen directions to uninstall EQ7. You do not need to deactivate EQ7.
  9. Put the EQ7 CD into your computer.
  10. Press Windows Key+E on your keyboard to bring up the File Explorer.
  11. Click on "Computer" or "This PC" on the left side.
  12. Double click on the EQ7 CD.
  13. Follow the on screen directions to install EQ7.
  14. Restart the computer following installation.

When running Windows 7, error 1309 means that you need to uninstall and reinstall.

Windows 7 or earlier

Uninstall/Reinstall EQ7

  1. Go to Start->Control Panel.
  2. Select "Category" from the "View By" options at the top right.
  3. Under the "Programs" heading, click the "Uninstall a Program" link.
  4. Select EQ7 from the list of programs.
  5. Click the Uninstall link at the top of the window.
  6. Follow the on screen directions to uninstall EQ7. You do not need to deactivate EQ7.
  7. Put the EQ7 CD into your computer.
  8. Press Windows Key+E on your keyboard to bring up the File Explorer.
  9. Click on "Computer" on the left side.
  10. Double click on the EQ7 CD.
  11. Follow the on screen directions to install EQ7.
