EQ7: Dear Hannah – Linking to EQ

Putting the Dear Hannah quilt in EQ7 (PC or Mac)

  1. Put the Dear Hannah CD in your drive.
  2. Open EQ7.
  3. Click the Open an Existing Project tab > click the “Click here to open a project not listed above” folder > browse to your CD drive.
  4. You’ll see a folder Dear Hannah. Open that.
  5. You’ll see a folder For EQ > double-click to open it.
  6. Change the “Files of Type” (down at the bottom of the Open box) to look for “Previous EQ versions. You will then see the Dear Hannah Quilt.PJ5 file. This is an EQ5 project for the quilt.
  7. Click on it once, to highlight it > click Open > close the Sketchbook.
  8. Click FILE > Save as – save it here: (My) Documents > My EQ7 > PJ7.
    You will now have the Dear Hannah project saved in EQ7 or EQ7 for Mac.

Linking the Dear Hannah blocks in EQ7 (PC or Mac)

You can save the .blk file right into EQ7.

  1. Put the Dear Hannah CD in your drive.
  2. Go to (My) Computer > right-click your CD ROM drive > click Open. You should now be seeing all the files on the CD.
  3. You’ll see a folder Dear Hannah > open that and you’ll see a folder For EQ > double-click to open it.
  4. Here you’ll see a DHannah.blk file. This is an EQ5 block library file of all the blocks.
  5. Click on it once, to highlight it > use CTRL (Command on Mac) + C to copy this file.
  6. Navigate to: Documents > My EQ7 > Add on Libraries.
  7. Create a folder called Dear Hannah inside the Add on Libraries folder.
  8. Use CTRL (Command on Mac) + V to paste the DHannah.blk file into the Dear Hannah folder.
    When you open the Block Library in EQ7 you will see a new category called Dear Hannah, with the blocks.
