There are a few different reasons you may be seeing colors or fabrics you don’t expect on your Fabric Yardage Estimates.

Layer 2

If you place anything on Layer 2 and the quilt is colored on Layer 1 the fabric/color on Layer 1 will still show up on your Fabric Yardage Estimates. In the example below the flower is covering the diamond that is colored blue. The blue will still show up on the Fabric Yardage Estimate.

Clipped Blocks

If you manually clip blocks or if the layout you choose clips blocks (On-point, Variable Point, Baby Blocks, Variable Blocks) the fabric/color in the parts of the blocks that are clipped will still show on your Fabric Yardage Estimates. Below even when the flower is clipped the blue part will still show up on the Fabric Yardage Estimate.

Setting a Border to Zero

If you set a colored border to zero instead of deleting it sometimes the fabric/color may still show on your Fabric Yardage Estimate. If you have unexpected fabric/colors on your Fabric Yardage Estimate double-check your borders.

Extra Pieces in Blocks

If you draw your own blocks they may have tiny extra pieces that you don’t notice at first glance. Zoom in and see if you can spot anything. If this is the case, it is most likely because your snaps needed adjusting when you were drawing the block.

Custom Set

Similar to working in Layer 2 in this case, in a Custom Set Layout, if you set blocks over another block, the yardage for both blocks will still show on the Fabric Yardage Estimate.
