You can create custom libraries in the Thread Library the same way as in other libraries. However, when you click on the My Favorite Thread section of the Thread Library, you have the option to Add Thread. This allows you to create your own thread to use in EQ8 using the spools you have in your sewing room.

Adding a Thread Library

Choose Thread Library from the LIBRARIES menu. The Thread Library dialog box will display.

Click My Favorite Thread on the top-left of the dialog.

Click Create Library at the bottom-left of the dialog box. The Add New Library dialog box will display.

Thread7

Thread8

Type a name for the library. Use a name that will help remind you of the types of items in this category.

Enter a number for how many styles (sub-categories) you will have under the main library or category. You can always add more styles later.

Click OK. The new library will be displayed on the left of the dialog box under My Custom Libraries.

Click the plus (+) sign next to the new library to display the styles.

Select the first style and click the Add Thread button. The Add New Thread dialog box will display.

AddThread1

Check the bottom of your spool of thread for the thread name, number and manufacturer. If you are creating a new thread without using an actual spool of thread, just name the thread whatever you like. If you don’t know the number or the manufacturer, you can leave these options blank.

In the Red, Green, Blue color boxes, enter numbers from 0-255 for each color. Watch the color preview change as you change the numbers. Adjust the numbers accordingly until you find the right color.

Click Add. The new thread will be displayed in the library dialog.

AddThread2

Continue to add as many threads as you like.

Click Save Library at the bottom of the library dialog box. A prompt will display telling you that your items have been saved in the library. Click OK.

Click Close to close the library.

Changing the Name of a Library

To change the name of a library, right-click on the library name and choose Modify Library. Type a new name for the library, then click OK.

Note:
You can always modify your threads if the color is not quite right, or if you need to change the name, number, or manufacturer. In the My Favorite Thread section, click to select the thread in a custom library that you want to modify. Click Add Thread, the dialog box will display and you can make your adjustments. Click Modify when you’re finished.
